#12 - Owl

In the fall of 1974, I lived for a while in a rustic cabin on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California. One morning while reading with the door open, I looked up and saw this tiny owl sitting on a 2x4 at the base of the wall. It sat there with one eye closed long enough for me to get my camera and photograph it before it flew out the door.

I used this image on the back cover of the Tao Journal and in the book, Fingers Pointing to the Moon.

I am offering it only as a 5x7 print on 8.5"x11" paper because it seems just meant to stay small. In the print of those dimensions the owl is just about life-sized!
